Astre Notes - Air Filters

For more efficient air filtering and cleaner cabinets, we recommend that all cabinet air filters be replaced with the new Electrostatic type of filter. These filters create a static electricity buildup on the filtering element by virtue of the airflow across the type of material being used. This electrostatic charge attracts up to 90% of dust, dirt, and pollen particles. This is much more than the previously used throw away type of filters. The result is cleaner cabinet interiors and less dirt buildup inside of the klystron RF cavities.

Construction: Four layers of polypropylene media have an inherent electrostatic charge which polarizes particles in the air stream. Particles are then stored in the polyester collection cell until filter is cleaned by washing or vacuuming. Sturdy roll-formed galvanized frame.

Filters are available from the W. W. Grainger Co. as part number 5W900 for amplifiers ( 20” X 20” X 2” ), and 5W898 for exciter cabinets ( 16” X 20” X 2” ). Prices are about $50 each direct from Grainger, 1-800-323-0620.
